  Power Factor Study

 A power factor study is performed to determine if capacitor bank(s) should be installed. The study also determines the size and locations of capacitor bank(s). 

Power factor studies are useful in existing power systems, particularly those experiencing:

     high utility charges 
     penalty utility charges. 
In some cases, it may be necessary to install a harmonic reactor(s) to avoid excessive amplification of harmonics (see harmonic study). Also, a voltage regulation study may be required as a part of the design.
